Researchers at Leipzig University may analyse the contents of many of our licensed electronic resources in terms of text and data mining (TDM) in an automated way. The German copyright legislation permits TDM in principle (§ 60d). This applies regardless of contradictory clauses in individual license agreements, if the contracts were concluded after 28 February 2018. The analysis must serve only non-commercial scientific purposes.
If you want to use our licensed electronic journals and databases for TDM, please contact us. We will inform you about the legal situation and the licensing terms for the material of your choice. Please also note:
Many licensors prohibit automated mass downloading of pdf-files from their portals with the use of crawlers, scripts, bots etc. Before performing such mass downloads, please contact us.
- The DOI registration agency Crossref and some publishers offer special interfaces where you can get fulltext data for your research. Please consider using those interfaces – they may make your work easier.
- Some providers do not operate interfaces for TDM purposes, but do offer delivery of text data in XML format for research. These services are subject to a fee. Please find out more about this on the providers' websites and contact them at an early stage if you need data from these sources:
- FAZ-BiblioNet (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung): Homepage
- SZ Library Net (Süddeutsche Zeitung): Homepage
- WISO-Net (Fachzeitschriften): Präsentation "wiso DatenService"
For any questions regarding text and data mining, please contact our Open Science Office.
